Denise Chavira , Ph.D.

Denise A. Chavira received her PhD from the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. She holds a BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley and completed her clinical internship at Brown University.

Current UCSD/CASRC projects/grants: Improving Care for Anxiety in Pediatric Settings, A Family and Genetic Study of Selective Mutism, An Affected Sib-Pair Study of ADHD in Costa Rica, Developing clinical subtypes for genetic studies of Tourette Syndrome, Improving Anxiety Outcomes in Primary Care

Research Interests:
Collaborative care studies for anxiety disorders in pediatric settings; Genetic and familial contributions to anxiety disorders: Cross-cultural variations in the expression of anxiety disorders: Service utilization patterns for anxious youth: Translational research for child anxiety disorders: Dissemination models for empirically supported anxiety interventions

Other Affiliations: Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD; Supervising Psychologist in Child and Adult Psychiatry Residency Programs
