Observational Coding Tools

In order to describe treatment process reliably and accurately, the Child Therapy Process Coding System (CTPRS) and an associated Access-based system to facilitate viewing and coding of therapy sessions were developed. The CTPRS consists of a set of codes describing common objectives that therapists pursue when working with children and families, drawn from a review of treatment manuals for evidence-based interventions, other treatment process manuals and texts, and interviews with current therapists in publicly supported outpatient clinics. The CTPRS manual describes how to use the coding system and provides definitions of the codes themselves. The observational coding software can accommodate many different coding frameworks, but was developed by Michael Hurlburt for this project in conjunction with the CTPRS. If you have interest in using one or both of these tools, please contact Michael Hurlburt. We are excited to share them with interested individuals.
