The project (C3) seeks to address developmental delay and
behavior problems among children in the general and prioritized
(by need) population through a regional network of providers
throughout San Diego county. Specifically, C3 facilitates
the linkage of children identified as in need of services
with the appropriate intervention agencies, and builds the
capacity of the community to promote learning by providing
tools for parents and providers, which enhance developmental
outcomes for children with mild delays and behavior problems.
The clinical component of the programs are coordinated by
the Developmental Services Division of Rady Children's Hospital,
San Diego.
The Child and Adolescent Services Research Center will conduct
program evaluation. The evaluation team at CASRC will be responsible
for generating reports for the county and providing real-time
feedback to the clinical program. Specifically, the evaluation
team will examine rates of developmental delay and behavior
problems, determine which factors predict entry into public
sector-sponsored services for children with developmental
delay and behavior problems, and test interventions for children
with mild to moderate developmental delay and/or behavioral
problems who do not qualify for available federally-funded
intervention programs.
C3 has also developed a website at www.howkidsdevelop.com
as a service to families with young children.
