The ultimate goal of this Mentored Career Development Award (K01) is to establish an independent program of research focused on developing and testing culturally responsive interventions for young minority children. The immediate research goal of this award is to develop and pilot test methods for characterizing the use of empirically supported treatments for children with autism.
The project will estimate the use of research-based treatments in early intervention (0-5) settings in San Diego and Riverside Counties. The degree to which research-based treatments are applied with high fidelity in early intervention programs, and the ways in which there treatments are adapted to meet the needs of children with ASD presenting for care will be examined.
Finally, we will conduct a small scale feasibility study to compare functional outcomes of children receiving treatment consistent with a research-based treatment with outcomes of children receiving treatment not consistent with a research-based treatment. Method for measuring family variables which may affect outcome will also be assessed. For more information on the project, please complete the following form.
