Safe Schools/Healthy Students Evaluation

Principal Investigator: John Landsverk

Funding: San Diego Unified School District subcontract from DOEd/DHHS/DOJ, (10/01/01-9/30/04, $925,964)

The purpose of this project is to evaluate the San Diego Unified Schools on the process of implementation or non-implementation of all programs and activities involved in the comprehensive plan to provide its students with violence prevention education. The project will document the participation rates for the program activities and examine the fidelity of the programs relative to the model program. The project will provide feedback to the school district about the quality and timing of the implementation. In addition, the project with provide outcomes evaluation by examining rates of violence and school disruptions that result from violence or substance use, within each target school. Risk factors for children and adolescents receiving the interventions will be examined and evaluation protocols will be developed.
